14,000 Punjab Rooftop Solar Projects Face Uncertainty Over ALMM Deadline

· Source: SolarQuarter

Around 14,000 rooftop solar projects in Punjab are facing uncertainty due to the ALMM (Approved List of Models and Manufacturers) List-II deadline and delays in PSPCL's system migration.

The Problem

MNRE has confirmed there will be no blanket extension of ALMM List-II beyond June 1, 2026, except where investments have already been made. This means solar panels and inverters used in new projects must come from the approved list.

Simultaneously, PSPCL (Punjab State Power Corporation Limited) is migrating its approval systems, creating processing delays that are leaving thousands of applications in limbo.

Impact on Homeowners

If you're a homeowner in Punjab with a pending rooftop solar application under PM Surya Ghar, contact your installer immediately to confirm your equipment is ALMM-listed and your application status with PSPCL.

Industry Response

Solar industry bodies are urging MNRE to provide a grace period for projects already in the pipeline, arguing that the deadline punishes homeowners for system-level delays they have no control over.
